Cannot get above 1024x768 resolution?

Hello

just got my new monitor as i have recently got an ati4850 gpu. Trying to get the desktop to fill the 22" screen but when I go into display setting the highest res is 1024x768 ?

have you re-installed the ati gpu drivers?

no do i need to now i replaced my crt monitor with a lcd dvi?

Reread what you said, have you rebooted Windows since you plugged in the new monitor? It should see the maximum resolution of the monitor then, you shouldn't need to reinstall the drivers but it can't hurt. Rest assured that the card can definitely handle that resolution, though.

Just re-installed driver and re-booted still cannot go above 1024x768 as thats the max that the slider goes too

are any of the colours slightly different?i had sort of had the same problem.

Make sure you uninstall all display drivers. Reboot and then re-install the correct driver for your card. Reboot and see what happens. Worth another try.

Was previous graphic card Nvidia based?

The new monitor doesn't have some custom scaling set up ?

Ah found out the problem. If your second monitor is set up as a tv or projector the most you can select for monitor 1 is th 1024x768. Now deleted second monitor option and i am up to 1056 Many thanks everyone for your input
