I have a Samsung R74 32" LCD. I have it connected via a Component cable to a X800XL. I cannot get a decent resolution (720p) to work. Whenever I set it to this resolution, it only shows part of the desktop allowing me to scroll the rest.

I have tried Powerstrip and CC, but I cannot get 720 to work!

Any suggestions? For some reason, 1152x648 works ok on CC...

have you checked the spec of the screen to make sure it can support that res over that interface? My TV wont take 1366 x 768 over VGA, so i had to use DVI > HDMI from my HTPC

Nothing about it unfortunately in the manual, it says it supports 1360x768 via VESA though.

I am worried by the above poster saying DVI is not supported. Even if I use a HDMI->DVI cable, it will not work through DVI?

Use VGA - it's the best option for this and allows the most resolution, I believe the HDMI (DVI) Doesn't allowed 1:1 pixel mapping.

VGA will give you 1360x768 in 1:1 pixel mapping, DVI->HDMI tops out at 720p with overscanning.
