cannot get my i5 2500k to run 4.5ghz what am i doing wrong??

ok guys the details first Mobo Asus P8Z68-V Pro (latest bios not the beta)

trying to get my i5 2500k to 4.5 ghz

now i can run at 4GHZ on 1.145v STABLE with only PLL overvoltage and cpu spread specturm disabled
BLCK 100
Frequency 40
Ram on standard 1333mhz and standard timimgs
ram volatge on 1.5v
ALL other settings AUTO

however for the life of me i cant get the system to boot or get past the windows logo if i go to 4.5ghz

i tried 1.35V (max safe)
tried ppl volatge (NOT ppl overvoltage) on 1.9V and AUTO
and VCCIO on 1.0V and AUTO

but just can seem to get past the windows logo even then on those volages at 4.5ghz...

what am i doing wrong any suggestions and setting thank you pre hand for any advice and help im pulling my hair out with this one...

LLC? Load Line Calibration??? its set on auto.... im at 4.2 now at 1.17 volts i can get into windows im prime testing (Failing on thread 3 retarting upping vcore by 2 RINSE and REPEAT at moment lol)....i guess i got a bad apple :-(.....

right unable to boot to windows on 1.35v and 1.38v on a 4.5ghz OC with LLC on high just freezes on windows logo (noticed mouse and keyboard lights switch off and then windows logo freezes then i have to hard reset it)... :-( this is becoming dire situation think my cpu is only capable of around 4.2/4.3ghz IF im lucky any other suggestions?

all settings everything on standard auto apart from PPL over volage on disable and CPU spread spectrum disabled ram on standard volts all im changing is the VCORE and CPU frequency (all power saving features on) i can get print screens if you wish
 
yes there are settings called

Long Duration Power Limit (Auto)
Long Duration Maintained (Auto)
Short Duration Power Limit (Auto)
Additional Turbo Voltage (Auto)
Primary Plane Current Limit (Auto)

however dont know what these do manual not very helpful...

they all in CPU power management sub section (VCORE is not part of it)
 
right after doing further testing and tinkering i come up with that my processor is stable at 4.4GHZ at 1.255Vcore but as soon as i hit 4.5GHZ it locks up and dont boot gets stuck on windows logo stage no matter how much voltage i apply so if im thinking right the CPU can only go to 4.4ghz is this something intel imposed on some cpu's even the K series
 
have i got any argument in returning the cpu to suppliers as its a poor overclocker or do i have to accept it and accept the fact i been hit by bad luck...

2nd is i wanted to achieve clocks at around 4.6/4.7 the primary use of this rig is for gaming would these clock hold my GFX's cards or anything back in an gaming environment?

3rd my old processor was i7 920 oc to 4ghz (hyperthreading enabled) is this a step up still in performance even through its not HT enabled at the 4.4ghz clocks?

SPOT ON mate Internal PLL Overvolatage changed it from disabled to Auto and system booted on 4.5ghz...

right i have a few questions..

1) what does Internal PLL Overvoltage do??? can it harm/damage the Sandycore 2500k CPU???

2) Im getting a quick DUAL BOOT upon switching on/restarting the machine now since i turned Invernal PLL Overvoltage on... what is causing this??? is this a bios bug??? or is this normal??

OC to 4.6GHZ on 1.320V temps peaking at 63-65 on one core... thats as far as im taking it as i think i have reach my CPU limit taking everything into account temps etc... just need to ramp up my ram now and test 12 H prime and then IBT 10 passes or so... thank you for the advice guys only question i have now what on earth is that dual boot upon boot??

chillidog what voltages are you running to keep stable on 4.6ghz??? also is everything on auto including load line calibration... I prime 95 tested last night and after 8 hours thread 3 failed on 1.32V, so i put load line calibration on Exream setting and move volage up one notch... just testing now if i can get prime stable for 12h or so then i will be satisfied that my system is stable... ram is on 1333mhz as of yet at 1.5v

[EDIT] system seems more stable with load line calibration set to Extream.... states it reduces the effect of VDROOP

whats up with vdroop any way??? prime testing my voltages keep fluctiuating pretty bad...
