Im really stumped, one of my machines decided to turn its nose up at xp pro and everything I try just results in failure but it will happily work with windows 7. Its an oldish spec machine that has one task and thats to record video from a sky box. Up until yesterday it has been working fine since febuary. It has two 640gb western digital greenpower sata drives and right from the word go I have used the special align program to get them working with xp due to advanced formatting. I have tried to get xp onto all available partitions and the same thing happens everytime which is the machine reboots and then fails to load the rest of the setup. I have been into the bios and checked the settings so many times im getting to the point of kicking the dam pc out the window. Anyone have any clues? this isnt something glaring me in the face obvious, ive tried shifting the boot order about... it just will not accept windows xp anymore...

Strange.. we had the same problem yesterday. XP just stopped working, it blue screened immediately on start-up so we tried wiping the hard-drive and reinstalling it but it wouldn't take. Ended up installing windows 7 instead. Could have been an update gone wrong? bit stumped as well tbh.

Just flicked this pc on and it took an absolute age to load up. It is sluggish when copying files and will pause a lot for no reason.

I have also managed to get speedfan working and it is telling me some bad stuff I cant figure out why its happening! I find it really weird how xp will not work on any of the drives let alone the dodgy one...
