I am trying to tidy up some files in OneDrive but for some reason I cannot move two as I am told they are open for editing, yet they are not or if they are it is on nothing I own. I turned off both phones, two tablets and a secondary PC and yet I am still getting the message that the files are open for editing.

Have not got a clue where to look.

Cannot see how that is going to help as the files are online, found a work around of sorts have downloaded the years files and have sorted them here. Oddly it did not stop me downloading the open files just moving them is an issue?

OneDrive doesn't lock files, so it'll be one of the clients - probably a Windows PC - holding the lock, and that link is the instructions for figuring out what's locking the file on Windows.

But surely switching off everything that had access to the files would have sorted that out?

Not necessarily.

I've seen file locks not being released, and it's as simple as opening/closing it again to release the lock.

I can also imagine that a file might be unlocked, but if the communication of the unlock didn't reach OneDrive (i.e. because the machine was shut down) then maybe OneDrive doesn't know it's unlocked.

I think you are right mate as I have just tried to move the files again and hey presto they move, it's witchcraft.
Thanks for all your help. much appreciated.
