I probably have one of the worst i5's out there. To achieve 4.6ghz. I have to have a vcore of 1.39v. I tried 5ghz at 1.45vcore and it still fails to boot with error code 124..

To my understanding, anything under 1.6vcore is technically safe if you have the cooling for it...

Any advice?

124 is usually a lack of Vcore, not all 2500Ks do 5GHz with reasonable voltage.

Sounds like you have a poor clocking chip or need to play with some of the other settings like PLL voltage and VTT etc to get it stable.
