Cannot Ping Windows Server 2008 - Firewall Service Disabled

Hi all,

I have a Windows 2008 Server and people on the same subnet can access the web application on there fine however people on the same domain but a different subnet cannot. I have noticed I cannot ping the remote sites servers from the 2008 box and also cannot ping the 2008 server from the remote sites 2003 server.

The firewall service is completely disabled. I have looked in DNS and all the correct entries

Any ideas?

Default Gateway? Check the routing table for any strange routes. Check routing/firewall entries on the default gateway (whatever it is)

When you say ping do you mean by ip or name?

How are the remote sites connected?

Have you tried doing a tracert and seeing is that gives you any clues.

You need to enable the ICMP Service on Server2008 manually as is disabled by default install.

It was the Default Gateway..Should have noticed.

I disagree, it pings fine for me without having to enable anything.
