Howdy,

I've just acquired a monitor for my office pc (hanns g hw173d) nothing flash as the computer isn't either lol, the monitor says its recommended screen resolution is 1440x900 which suits me fine, but I can't select it.
It's connected to an intel 82945G with latest drivers, but the monitor shows as generic non pnp monitor, I can't find any drivers anywhere for the monitor whatsoever.
Running windows 7, is there a way to manually force the resolution? I remember you could on other os but can't find anywhere to do that on 7.

Any help appreciated :)
Cheers

You can try this:

Right click on the desktop and select screen resolution.

Click on advanced settings and then the Monitor tab.

Untick the box for 'Hide modes that this monitor cannot display'.

It's on VGA, the pc doesn't have dvi but I do hav a VGA to dvi cable as well I can try but don't think it would make any difference would it?

Ah right well tried that cable and didnt work lol
I'm playing about with custom resolutions in powerstrip now but cant get the settings right :/

I found a Windows Vista driver here.

You can give that a go.

Right click on the monitor in Device Manager and select to update the driver.

Do a manual update and point it to the appropriate driver in the download.

Its ok mate cheers though
I've managed to get it working @ 1440x900 finally with powerstrip,
Basicly by clicking aload of different things lol
Windows says the refresh rate is 157hz though :o surely thats not right as the monitor would say no signal as it has been all night?
It starting working when I selected force default refresh rate etc in powerstrip

The recommended refresh rate at 1440x900 is 60Hz though it appears it will do 75Hz as well.

157Hz would seem to be way off the mark.

Glad you got it working though :)

doh, I rebooted and monitor went out of range lol
reinstalled GPU driver, will give your driver above a go too,

Does anybody know how to configure powerstrip properly?

Ok noob error... powerstrip needs to be running to enforce the locked screen refresh rates, thats why I lost the screen on reboot, changed the preferences on powerstrip so it boots with windows and sorted, now running @ 1440x900 @ 60Hz :)

rebooted about 20 times since, only a temporary solution though, although I only use this system for paperwork and processing the odd photo it could still do with updating lol
