I'm in the Christmas spirit, but not right now....gash. I can hear Mum's bf up getting ready for work, que him walking in soon wondering why I'm up...nosey sod.

yay for insomnia....

what are the 31 other people browsing this forum upto then?

i automatically gravitate to sleeping during the day and waking during the night.

but also, i'm on holiday so i'm celebrating by watching farscape.

i've just watched 9 hours worth (12 episodes) without pause...

i LOVE the holidays :)

Morning fellas, been up all night too, moving today so cleaning the flat, was about to go to sleep but knowing me if I did, I sleep straight through an alarm !

On my break, back in 13 mins :(

Luckily it seems most of Birmingham and the Black Country have actually slept tonight rather than dial 999.

As a dispatcher, i'm on NHS band 4, atm my pay is 17k+25% so around 22k.

Intense isn't the word sometimes, last night we have double our normal workload for a Saturday (over 2000 incidents) and we struggled to get breaks done for both us and the crews, my normal role is Radio, so you have to be on your toes taking shouts from crews, as well as making sure jobs are allocated, but the Commander for the control room bought us all Pizza, so it wasn't all bad :D

As horrible as it is taking the calls....it sounds like a good job! :)

I could not sleep for I got up, ate some pasta, has a small cup of coffee with 2 and a half tablespoons of coffee.

Got a sleep problem I think, my bed ain't helping it's like sleeping on a hard floor.

I've not had this much job satisfaction since working with kids, and I put my heart and soul into that job, it's certainly interesting and gives you a whole new perspective on the way 999 calls are handled.. I take a lot of pride in what I do, and I go to bed happy that I help a lot of genuine people and occasionally being part of saving a life, and that feeling is absolutley unbeatable :)
