Cannot view JPEG images following re-install.

Hi,

I recently re-installed my system after getting a nasty virus (MusCDriverV32). Everything now works fine apart from my pictures. When trying to view in Windows Picture & Fax Viewer I get 'No preview available' and with Paint I get 'Access was Denied'.

The pictures are definitely still there and even the one's backup onto an external drive do the same. It therefore appears to be something to do with permissions, possibly because I changed the computer name from 'Jonathan' to 'Gilly' when re-installing?

Any idea how to fix this?

Make sure that JPEGS are set to open with Windows Preview thing.

If not try a different program such as IrfanView.

Your user doesn't have permissions to view the pictures. Right-click > Properties > Security.

Unfortunately, I don't have a security tab when right clicking, and I don't know why.

I've got the security tab and changed ownership, but still doesn't work.

The files may be corrupt from the virus. Save a new image such as the following to your computer and try to open it. If it works, the virus mutilated all of your images.
