Hi

I'm going on a 3 week vacation in September, and I've decided to upgrade my kit.

I have a 10D, 28-135 IS lens and 70-300 IS lens. I've sold the 70-300 (got £300 for it) and have bought a 17-40 f/4 L. I will probably also get a 70-200 f/4 L.

So, the most important bit has been taken care of. Now I'm wondering if an upgrade to the 30D is worth £750 over what I already have with the 10D. I know there are some technically minded people here who seem to have/had everything, so I'm asking from your experience, is it worth the upgrade cost?

I don't know how much I can sell the 10D for, but it's probably so little that it would be worth keeping as a 2nd body.

So over to you... :)

Depends what you shoot. Low light or events then maybe as you'll have better ISO handling and a faster buffer. I spent 3 weeks in Toronto with my 10D and I came back happy. Spend the money on glass.

Dpreview would be a good place to look.....

That link will compare the features side by side but is a very high level overview. They have indepth reviews as well if you look at the 20D review it will compare the 10D to 20D and the 30D review will compare the 20D to 30D so no direct comparison.

Personally I'd agree with cyKey unless you have some particular need e.g. the higher FPS in burst mode.

EDIT: Typo!

I went from 10D to 30D and I'm very please with the extra speed and features. I kept my 10D as backup as it is still a very capable camera IQ is just as good as the 30D. But I do agree with whats been said it depends on your needs..
