Off to the Swiss Alps (Dents-du-Midi) in September and doing a 4 day hike. I will be caring all my gear with me as we will be wild camping in the mountains. I usually take my 6d and 17-40mm but my 6d has broke and is no more so i'll be using my 5dmk3. The 5dmk3 came with a 24-105 and was thinking would this make a better lens for the trip for landscape photography. Its not as wide as the 17-40 but has the extra zoom which might work in some shots. I can't take both as i'm already caring my drone and Gopro :)

So what would you take for landscape photography :)

This is a difficult choice.
I think some pros on here should be able to mention the strengths and weaknesses of 24-105L at is widest compared to the 17-40.
The 24-105 is a decent ( IMO ) walk about lens for size, weight, durability and sharpness. Though pro guys may have a different opinion as they need top IQ all of the time.
The 17-40 should yeild better results than the 24-105 general purpose lens when shooting wide at shorter focal lenghts.
As long as you are only using the 5D for landscape then perhaps the 17-40 may be the better choice. You will of course will not be albe to isolate any subject / feature in a scene. As you will not have the zoom reach and you will have to do this in post.
Not much of a definite opinion for choice, ..sorry.
