My 1D MKII shutter broke recently and I'm unsure whether I should replace it.

What is the going rate for a 1 series shutter replacement?
How much is the camera going for in second hand sales?
Is it worth my while cutting my losses and spending the money on something newer?

Thanks,

Blackvault

One second hand camera dealer that I checked has a number of Canon EOS 1D MkII bodies for sale, at differing prices / shutter activations. The prices were as follows

£649 number of activations undisclose E+ condition
£699 59200 activations E+ condition
£759 35800 activations E++ condition
£799 17500 activations E++ condition
£799 15400 activations E++ condition
£899 5000 activations E++ condition
£1099 7000 activations E++ condition
£1299 number of activations undisclose E++ condition

As for the price of a shutter replacement, might be an idea to contact one of the authorised Canon repair centers which can be found on the Canon UK Website at

http://www.canon.co.uk/Support/Consumer_Products/services_locator/index.aspx

If you look under the Canon Repair centre at Elstree, you will see a .pdf with some details of Canons own suggested prices for repair.

Fixation are the people to get in contact with, used them before and all my friends use them as well. fast and professional service.

Thanks guys. I sounds as thought it might be worth replacing the shutter after all. I would have thought that the MK IIs would be cheaper than that on the second hand market.

On forums they tend to go for around £450. Contact fixation to see what their base fee is for a new shutter.
