Hi.

I have a problem with my shutter. Basically when I press to shoot it focuses but doesn't fire when I press down.
I tried removing the battery, memory card, lens but still the same problem.

The camera fires sometimes after holding the shutter button more then 2-5 sec.

This problem just happend today and previously the camera functioned perfectly.

Any ideas why its doing this? I have only fired the shutter 6000 times and never been out in the rain/freezing temp.

I bought this camera from well known retail camera chain with 3 year extended warranty, do I take it back to them or I have to deal with Canon?

any ideas?

Edit: Just been reading in other forums and it seems the problem is in the shutter button. It seems to be getting stuck due to the hot weather (i think).
When I wiggle the button a bit it starts firing. Maybe I'm getting paranoid but the shutter slams are lot harder and viberates more.

not to question your intelligence but before you do anything. Stick the lens into manual focus and just see if the problem persists.

The camera wont fire a shot until it gets a focus (depending on drive mode)

It may be the shutter button but the above is so many times a rookie mistake.

thats the first thing i did, tried it on manual mode and also tried different metering modes. Also tried custome function 4.1 to focus using the lock and press the shutter button.

It seems the shutter button is getting stuck and when i wiggle it it fires.

The mirror lockup is disabled, the camera is not on timer mode if it was it would make the bleeping noise.

Also I have never cleaned the sensor, only thing i can think of is sweat and grease from finger affecting the shutter button.
The most annoying part is I took care of this camera like my own baby.

I will give the shop call first.
