Well it looks like my 400D has croaked, the day before I really needed it too. Hey ho.

Looks like a pin has bent in the CF slot and shorted across another two pins, now when I turn it on the green light turns on and that's about it.

Tried bending the pin back, both batteries out etc. Alas it's being stubborn and sitting there doing not much. I guess the logic board is cooked, unless there's another type of reset I can try?

Anyway, I'm debating fixing this or selling it on as faulty and grabbing another similar spec camera. What would I be looking at these days? I'd like to step up to full frame if possible, but not keen on spending the earth as I only really use the camera once a month if that sadly.

Cheers

I've got the kit 17-55, a nifty, and a zoom. Something-300 maybe? Not massively invested in glass, so I'm fairly manufacturer agnostic but I know and like Canon so would rather stay.

The 5D Mark II is a lovely camera, but probably way above my station for my skills at the moment. Plus it would be a crime to own something like that and not put it to full use. I'll have a read of the link you've provided, thanks for that. :)
