Canon 55-250 IS II

Hello everyone, happy 2013 to you all

Ive been considering getting this lens for some time now. However, I currently have an old Sigma 55-200 DC which my dad gave me. I find this lens to be very soft and the pictures just seem to lack contrast and clarity, even at low ISO such as 200. Would the Canon 55-250 IS be a worthwhile purchase? it seems to be going for a great price on Amazon at the moment. Also, im thinking the image stabilisation would be very useful to me for those long zoom shots.

Ok cool, thank you for your help I may go ahead and get this lens once ive raised the money. Il see if I can sell the sigma somewhere
