Morning All,

I was out at the music festival last night and something odd happened with a couple of shots that i took last night and I'm not sure if i should be concerned.

As you can see the bottom half of the image is barely exposed despite using the flash. Should i be concerned at a potential high cost repair to the sensor? I did dismantle the lens from the body and things seem to correct themselves. It only happened a couple of times during the night, the rest were fine.

Has anyone had this happen to them at all? :(

Hi Derek W, the 5d2s fastest flash sync speed is 1/200 sec. It may be worth checking the exif for that shot to see if a faster speed was used as that could be the cause. If you have a flash with a high speed sync function then this gets around the problem.
The odd thing to me is there seems to be a table leg or something similar in the shadow area but I would have expected the bottom to just under exposed . Is it possible that something may have got in the way of the lower half of the flash causing a shadow?.

looks like it must be the shutter speed / flash. I had pumped that one quite quick at 1.400th. Think the last of the normal flashed shots had 1.250th.

The 'table leg' was actually part of the barrier system in place at the front of the crowd.

Off out to some of the pub venues this evening so no barriers in the way it'll just be crank the iso up and take it from there.

Last night was magic. Tonight is more folk / indie music so not quite my cup of tea. Thankfully I'll get some pints in while 'working' :D
