hiyas, i'm going to get my first camera woohoo but i'm still not completly sure which to buy. i've narrowed it down to the Canon A620 or the Fuji F30, i think. i'll be using it mostly for creating high-res textures for 3d, sky panoramas, night shots, close-ups, macro and the occasional trip-snaps. i've read lots of reviews on both of these cameras and overall i think the A620 is the better camera for my needs because the F30 seems to suffer from a bit of fringing?

would a super zoom be better for my needs? maybe a Canon S3-IS or a Kodak P880. my budget could just about stretch to those but i'd have to get less extras if i went with one of them.

should i get the A620 or are there any others i should consider? cheers :)

Ive got the camera for £145 on the way, hopefully Friday.

I know jack about cameras, so hoping its one that will let me P&S, then maybe experiment as i get more comfortable with it.

pah and i thought i'd found the cheapest place with £159, well done :)

Even for £200 its still a lot of Camera!

Nice kit though that you got with it.

Got a SanDisk 1GB ordered as well.

Picking up some 2700 recharbables (already have chargeer) for it when it arrives, could do with a carry case, but that should be enough for what i need.

i got a bit confused about the rechargables, the specs on the camera say it uses 2400 but could i use 900 or 2700 or even higher? is that rating for how much charge they hold or how much power? they release?

I use 2700's in my A620 without any problems at all.

I get around 200 pictures to a charge, less if i'm using a lot of flash / viewscreen.

I echo what everyone else has said about this camera, it's a lot of camera for the money, you can point&shoot with it, but it also has the options to allow for flexibility with regards to apertures, exposures et al.

wahey it arrived but missing the 1gb mem card and the ac adapter, hopefully will arrive later but emailed them about it anyway, unlike ocuk you dont get a lot of emails as to whats happening with your order. it took me about 10 pics to switch to manual mode and then about 30 fumbling my way around but i think i understand what all the buttuns do now anyway.
