Canon have been busy haven't they :)

Not only have they released the 6D, they've also released the latest G series camera, the G15

DPreview have an early hands on preview on their site

http://www.dpreview.com/previews/canon-powershot-g15/

Key specifications are

•12MP 1/1.7" Canon CMOS sensor
•28-140mm equivalent F1.8-2.8 lens, 4-stop 'Intelligent IS'.
•DIGIC 5 processor
•ISO 80-12800
•Fixed 3" 920k dot PureColor II G screen
•Optical viewfinder
•Raw format recording
•Dual-axis electronic level

Shame there isn't a fully articulated screen though - they seem to take a few steps forward and few steps back!

I can’t understand why they’ve removed the articulated screen. It was extremely useful on previous G models and can only be a step backwards.

Dissappointing that sensor is still only 12MP, I mean come on... it's a high-end Point and Shoot that will be used in a variety of conditions... that is seriously the best they can do given some of the awesome 18MP+ sensors that are around now? Hardly competitive vs new and very technically competent releases from Sony, Nikon et al. And ditto for the articulated screen, why remove such a popular feature? Makes me think whoever designed this wasn't really in touch with the market.

I had a quick look at this yesterday.

12MP, shoots RAW, has 28-140 eq 1.8-2.8 lens.... It's pretty much my existing DSLR!
Depending on the cost this might replace my aging Canon Ixus 750 that I've had since release!

My guess would be that with the fairly bright lens and low ish' pixel density on the sensor it could possibly be a low light demon and marketed as such.

Having said that though the sensor is still quite small compared to the RX100 for example.

I would like to have seen 24mm on the wide end though and removing the articulated screen is just plain stupid.
