I've had my Canon IP4850 for a few months now, when I purchased it I did buy some third party ink as I was unsure what came with it. 2 tanks are running low so I decided to replace them to find that for some reason they aren't compatible?

Not owning a printer before could someone shed some light on this for me please?

Regards,
Liamsy

What do you mean they aren't compatible?

If they just don't fit you've bought the wrong ones.

You need cartridges compatible with the following Canon ones:

PGI-525PGBK Black
CLI-526BK Black
CLI-526C Cyan
CLI-526M Magenta
CLI-526Y Yellow

The Canon original cartridges contain a micro chip.

From what I can see of places selling compatible cartridges you have to remove the chip from the original and fit it to the compatible.

They say that instructions are included with the cartridge so have a look if you have any.

Hopefully you haven't thrown the originals away.

Not for the same cartridges but this may be of some use:

If you encounter a blinking amber light after new cartridge installation on the printer.
• For IP Series Printers: Holding the paper feed button down for 3-5 seconds, will allow you to override the counter. The cartridge will print ,however, the ink level display may not show.
• For MP Series Printers: Holding the STOP/RESET button down for 3-5 seconds, will allow you to override the counter. The cartridge will print ,however, the ink level display may not show.

Hi, when l first got my Canon ip4300 l had to insert the chip as above no problems, then a couple of months later the inks came with a proper chip in place.
