Canon SX230 HS - Lens Error

My camera was dropped by someone at a mate's party last night. The lens is completely extended and will not retract, I get a Lens Error message when I switch it on but the lens doesn't move and the camera just switches itself off. I've done some looking around on the web and tried some suggestions but none of them worked. It was purchased in Feb 12 so no warranty left.

Has anyone had any joy fixing this problem with a camera? I'm not sure how cost effective it would be to repair either, it cost me £180 when I bought it.

you can get a refurbished 230hs from canon for £89 so I would get one of those instead of repair if you really want another

I was 'lucky' when I dropped my SX50 and had similar lens problems; it only cost me £80 to have it tweaked back into alignment rather than the £200+ for a full lens module replacement. So I think senor Shaken has the right idea, even on a cheaper camera.
