Canon’s Medium Format Camera (possibly in Spring 2013)

Of course it's all still rumour, but Iv been saying for a while now it's going to happen sooner or later as sensor manufacturing costs continue to tumble.
If it can still use some of the EF lenses, that should mean some extraordinary DOF's should be achievable.
For those wondering how it could work, some 'DX' lenses can actually work on sensors larger than 1.5 or 1.6, the 35mm 1.8G works with a 1.2 crop before vignetting, so maybe some EF FF lenses have such headroom that can accommodate a medium format?

For those that love video's, it seems there is actually a camera that can accept 35mm lenses and MF digital backs, that looks to do it by removing the mirror. Could this mean that a Canon MF has been made possible by 'mirrorless' technology?

But imagine your 85 1.2 being like a 50mm F0.8, your 35 being a 24 F0.9 etc...

I thought that at first but keeper rate shouldn't change too much, it's just you may be shooting closer to your subject than normal.

Personally I think it would be like shooting with 2 lenses on your camera at a time.
A 24mm is like an UWA lens, but can be cropped back down to 24mm. A 35mm is like a wide angle lens, but can be cropped back down to a 35mm wide standard focal length.
85mm is like a standard 50mm, but can be cropped back to an 85mm lens.

All this cropping without any degradation compared to 35mm quality.
Apart from the corners, the lens would appear sharper due to less magnification, like 35mm compared to APSC.

they think it is a little bit of mistranslation and that what is meant is that Canon are going to release a sensor with a vastly increased mexapixel - this probably would make sense since Nikon have already done this with the D800.

Most EF lenses would produce a circle too small for a medium format sensor.

Same thin opened with the nikon d3x Release, eore hand there were loadsof rumors of a Nikon MF, turns out it was really the d3x competing with aMaf cameras, the D800 does this to an even higher level.

Seems most 35mm lenses will cause vignetting, except for those with larger image circles like tilt-shift's, Even so, there looks to be room for a 'DX' medium format without much pain.
As the tilt shifts work fine, I would imagine Canon would not have an issue adding compatibility in the future as it updates it's lens line up.
Would be interesting to see if it's latest lens updates have large image circles.
