This is bugging the crap outta me but whenever i am offered to accept or reject a file transfer, after I accept, it tells me that the file was unable to be transferred.

Cant find anything in any of the settings - even when i turn off my firewall and windows firewall, its still the same - anyone any ideas?

Some file extensions are blocked on MSN. Two that I can think of at the minute are mp3s and exes.

Zip them up first or change the file extension.

Am I right in thinking file transfer comes across a different port to the IM client? If so this port will also need to be permitted on any firewalls. Including any on your router.

After a little research it seems that MSN file transfer happens on port 6891 for incoming connections. This needs to be allowed in firewalls as well as uPnP being enabled to allow the MSN client that has been designated "server" by both nodes to be able to trigger a listening port forward through NAT on this port.

Anyone got a belkin router?
I have turned off the firewall in my router and I can accept transfers no problem - so now I need to set up the router to accept transfers whilst still protecting the network
