Can't access BIOS - system boots too fast

So I built my new Ryzen 7 system last week, it's been a while and I forgot about UEFI before Windows installation.

Motherboard is ASUS ROG Strix B450-I with 3700X

I realised Windows was running in legacy mode. So I followed a guide to convert it to UEFI via recovery and entering a command.

I rebooted and went into the bios and disabled CSM, I heard this can slow boot down.

Well now it's super fast, my keyboard lights up, then goes off, my display goes off and then they both come back on and I'm at the Windows login screen. I don't even see the Asus splash screen, my monitor is off at the time.

I tried hitting F2 and del during boot but they do nothing.

I tried doing a recovery boot and selecting the option to go to BIOS but it just reboots straight back into Windows.

Any ideas?

Should be a button on your Mobo or just PRESS SHIFT+MOUSE CLICK RESTART MENU BUTTON in Windows to get recovery options to appear, pick UEFI.

BTW, most desktops its DEL to enter Bios.

I tried tapping del key fast, still nothing.

I tried the windows recovery and picking UEFI, still boots back to Windows.

Also to top it all off now my network connection randomly drops out every few minutes, it hasn't done this before only since I did the above changes this evening :(

I had that issue once where I couldn't do so from Windows, fixed down the line by a clean install after an one of the bi annual updates.

Reset the bios and reload your profile once in there.

Are you sure the Asus Rog Mobo does not have a button to get you into bios.

EDIT: Looked at your Mobo manual and it does not the DIRECT KEY button, there is Clear CMOS Jumper) < I thought this was a thing of the past as most now are a button on rear I/O.

In windows goto Settings > Recovery > Advanced Startup > Restart Now Button

The PC will reboot, when you get to the blue screen select Troubleshoot > Advanced Options > UEFI Firmware Settings > Restart

The PC will restart, dont touch anything, the PC will enter the bios itself, once in, turn off / disable fastboot.

Thanks guys.

I guess I'll leave it for now as I don't need to change anything else.

I was going to enable DOCP as I didn't before, I was looking for XMP, didn't realise that was an Intel thing.

I've set my ram to 3600 and I'm not bothered about overclocking it, this system is super fast.

If I need to make changes then I will clear the CMOS.

Looks like my weird network drop outs have stopped, think it was something to do with DHCP on my server.

That would have been the first thing I tried but it’s an M.2 drive, bit more difficult that just popping out a sata cable. It’s also got a heat sink on it and because the ITX board and case access may be tricky.

I would also have tried a ps2 keyboard but there’s no ps2 ports. I also googled this problem, I’m not the only one, some people mentioned trying the on board graphics but I don’t have any with my cpu.

I love new technology but it does seem to make things more difficult.

Start the PC up and before windows loads properly, hold down the power button to shut it down. Do this two more times and windows should go into recovery mode and should show options to get into the bios.
