my dads pc was screwed so i started xp on his second hard drive and set his first hard drive with the broken xp (too many viruses etc) as a slave so he could get the files off of it.

he can access all the users files, except one which has a password for the user. i didn't think this would be a problem but it seems it is. is there any way around this without going back into the older xp installtion and removing the password?

Right click on the folder, Properties, Permissions, Advanced, 'Take Ownership' (off the top of my head).

Otherwise, get a Linux Live CD, boot from it, copy files.
