Can't access OCUK or Santander via VPN

I've started using PureVPN and most of the time it just kills my internet connection, completely.

On the odd occasion I do retain internet access, of a sort, it frequently prevents access to certain sites. For example, I can't see OCUK forums or log into my Santander bank account.

Any ideas why it would selectively prevent access to websites like that? Is it likely to be an issue with my setup? Or do some websites block such VPN traffic?

Previously I used PIA with absolutely no issues. I only switched to PureVPN as I got an offer on lifetime membership. But it's worthless if I can't use it. :(

Personally I wouldn't be using email or banking over a VPN. Unless it was a VPN to my own router at home.

Using HTTPS it'll be a secure connection either way. If it were possible to snoop on HTTPS then every switch and router in between would be a threat. :p

It could be misconfigured OP, and you could try and troubleshoot it. Tell us what happens - does it time out, fail to resolve DNS, etc.? (Check the latter by using nslookup on the command line for the URL you're trying to reach.)

If not misconfigured it could be that those sites are on a CDN that blocks some VPNs. I know some sites have started doing this e.g. Netflix.

OcUK block PIA VPN addresses too. My bank make me jump through extra validation steps or block me completely when on PIA. It's annoying but expected.
