cant access router settings

hi

as above i type in my ip address and a google list comes up about how people cant access their router settings.
i have a linksys if that helps

So when you type your routers ip in to the address bar you get a google page come up?

Have you tried a different port like 8080 (not that linksys have default ports as standard).

can you ping or telnet to it?
 
You are typing it into the address bar and not a search box right? If you are then I'd suggest you start scanning your machine with various anti malware/spyware/adware/virus programs.
 
tell us what type of router you have

also

open a cmd window and type..

ipconfig /all >c:\info.txt

close the cmd window.



open up c:\info.txt and paste the information in here for us


-don't worry, it's only local info, no-one can 'hack' you or anything like that
 
surefire quickest solution, Power down the router, hold in the little reset button with a pen while reconnecting the power. This puts the box back to factory defaults. Then connect your PC to it using a network cable and type Http://192.168.1.1 in your browser and log in with username admin and password admin.

This will without fail let you into the router settings. Then set it up as requred taking time to document everything you do to prevent further issues like this.

not all routers use that ip address

so it's not without fail.
 
thanks for the replies chaps ive just got back from xmas shopping with my wife.

i did print out all the details but now my wii and 2 ds lites cant get online so i guess my settings have changed . im gonna have another go now .

edit : my lads pc is fine on the internet but i cant access my settings
. ive tried resetting my router but no joy . the light at the front turned a different colour

ok chaps ive sorted it . putting the " http" before the address got me in
