hi guys

installed windows 7 on test box, i'm rdc in windows 7 from my laptop (xp)

both machines got same username and password

when opening \\192.168.0.3\c$ the message pop up the permission denied blah blah

i never get that before with xp/vista/server 2003 etc

what do i have to do to change the settings in windows 7 to enable me access c$ on windows 7?

also if i create a shared folder with EVERYONE on the permission list, still get the denied permission

thanks

Ok, simple steps that should work.

1) Right click on file that you want to share, click properties
2) Sharing, Advanced Share
3) Share this folder, permissions Everyone, change/read (whatever option(s) you want. Alternatively click Add, Type in your user name and select Check Names, it should underline. Click OK, choose new user and select options.
4) Go back to Security tab, Edit, Add, Username, Check Names, it should then underline it. Click OK.
5) Set up permissions as you want them, and OK out of it.

Worked for me so I hope this helps. :)

What version of Windows 7? I had the same problem with build 7000 (vista 64 - Win7 64), installed build 7057 yesterday and thats fine (32bit).

Cheers
