Cant add another 2gb o ram

I have a abit Fatal1ty FP-IN9 SLI board bought from OCUK a few months ago that I have had 2x 1gb geil 6400 running in dc and 2x 500mb geil6400 running in dc.

I decided to see if I could improve perfomance a bit by swapping out the 2 512s for 2x 1gbs OCUK Value that I have in another pc.

The thing is a soon as I put the ocuk pair in it will not start no beep no display nothing, could it be that I need to match manufacturers or is there something up with my mobo?

No, probably not but you need to make sure the settings match for the ram such as voltage and timings.

eg your 1Gb Geil might be 1.8v at 4-4-4-12 and your 512mn Geil might have been the same so they would all work together.

Your ocuk might be 2.1v 5-5-5-18 ram so if you leave you bios settings to 1.8v 4-4-4-12, then it is no surprise the ocuk ram won't work!

btw I;m not saying THOSE ARE THE SETTINGS, just giving you an example as to why they don't work.

Check what settings the ram should be at and try just the two ocuk ram chips by themselves and make sure they work in your motherboard before trying to get all 4 working together again.
 
Hi thanks for the response, I should have said I have tested the ocuk stuff on its on and it does work I have also tested the ocuk stuff with the 2x512 geil sticks and that works fine the only combination that doesn't work is the 2gb geil and the 2gb ocuk together.
