Hi guys

Think i need some advice me and the GF have nearly been in our place together for a year now and we seem to have stupidly higher monthly shopping bills than our friends which are in the same situation.

We have been going to asda for everything and averaging at around £200-£280Half of the stuff is smartprice so it isnt like were getting the rolex of cerals :p. Although our friends keep suggesting to go and get our meat from the butchers seperate. They are apparently paying around £100 a month on meat and then £70 for the rest. This is like nearly £100.00 saving. Do you guys do or notice the same?

Thanks.

Thanks guys. I would say that £100-£150.00 pound is going on meats for the month.

I manage to get 2kg of chicken for £10.00 from a friend at work who has a chicken farm. But the rest is on other stuff.

Might try the local farm shop and see how i get on.

Just back form my local butchers myself with-

1.56kg rib eye joint, 5 decent 3/4 inch steak and enough diced extra to make a decent plate sized steak and mushroom pie.
Belly pork joint that i have cut 8 belly pieces from 6 ribs to marinade in bbq sauce
1kg minced steak that will be knocked up into quarter pounders and other dishes.
5kg fresh chicken breast , roughly 20.

£47.odd

Quality is better than the supermarkets, i can adjust sizes my self and its cheaper to boot, £17 per kilo for rib eye in my local Morrisons, i paid £11.50 per kilo.

This seems very good value.

This thread grew quick!

Cheers everyone else for the advice. Looking at onkline butchers now and notices western gourmet was suggested a few times. Any other online butchers worth a 'butchers' mind the pun :D.

So i went to the local butchers. Told him it was my first time and he guided me through it like the first time at a Brownies meeting...

Bought a boat load of stuff including 2 mahoosive steaks all for £40ish.

Thanks for the advice guys, the food looks so much better before eating.
