Just played through Fallout 3 and complted it!

....noooo i had so much more to do and explore i am so angry at such a rubbish ending to a great game was far too short imo!

I actually felt depressed when i finished it was expecting so much more.

Yea i kinda felt the same. I must took me about 9hours doing just the main quest, but when i reloaded my save just before the ending and went back to the side quests, it got a lot better. Side quests are a lot more interesting than the actual main story imo.

You can buy it throught the games for windows live marketplace which is a right pain in the rear end to get working properly (For me at least) and all three currently released will set you back 2400 microsoft points.

I've always loved this game for the simple fact that you can point your cursor in a random direction and always find someting fun to explore. There's so much random stuff to do like gathering all the mini-nukes where the raving lunatic with the itchy trigger finger is shouting down the microphone about how the world has been blamod.

Edit: You may want to look at this other thread for an interesting looking mod.

Get the 3 DLC so far released as they will give you another 15-20 hours minimum then you have 2 more DLC 1 due in 2 weeks today then the other sometime late July. With the 3 DLC released so far and the main game it takes you up to 175 map locations plus several more which are not on the map.

All the DLC are well worth the money as it adds different aspects and GFWL is now working very well. MS even have a dedicated forum for tech issues with Fallout 3 so if you do get something they will help you but most issues have been with users security/firewall settings. http://forums.gamesforwindows.com/44.aspx

I would recomend Broken Steel, a pain in the bum to buy and install but gave the game a new lease of life.

It is coming out on disk relatively soon if you don't want the MS hassle.

Right i bought Broken Steel but when i go to click on it under the downloads section when im in game nothing happens.

Do i need to register it or something?

Also everytime i go to exit the game it just hangs and i have to ctrl+alt+del and end process to escape!

You logged into the same account you purchased the DLC with on GFW Live ? Also when you click on the downloads tab, is Broken Steel listed ? If its listed, that should mean its installed and Fallout 3 has detected it, so you should just need to load up a game and keep playing. When a dialog pops up saying "Level cap has been raised to 30" youl know everything is working fine.

So i need to load up a game i was playing right? How long do i play for?

I thought you would just double click the game in the download bit!

How and when does the expansion kick in?

On Broken Steel, you need to complete the main quest for the actual extra quests to begin. In Operation Anchorage and The Pitt, you get a radio transmission soon after loading up your save game informing you of the mission.

Ok ive sorted that i just loaded it to the point of me completing it and went through the cinematic and it started the expansion easier than i thought although i thought a better explanation from microsoft would have been better as i had to transfer some files into my steam folder to get it to work in the first place. Thanks for your help.

What do the other extra content add ons bring to the game?

I've just started playing it; on my fourth attempt, hoping to get into it this time!

For an easy life just remove and reinstall Fallout 3 to the same drive letter as Windows. Bethesda have not scripted the DLC to work without crashing a lot unless its installed on the Windows drive letter along with Fallout3. Guess no-one at Bethesda has heard about most PC gamers install their game on every drive except the Windows one!!

The crash on exit bug you can overcome by alt+F4 they should fix this in the next 2 weeks before DLC#4 is out.

Just to say about quitting using Alt+F4, for me at least, this doesnt properly exit the game, as its still shown as running in procceses, nicking my memory and preventing me from loading the game again until i end it.

I'll bet you money that the vast majority of games installs are on the default drive. Not sure how either of us would gather the data though. Most "gamers" struggle to remember (or refuse to acknowledge) that the majority of people playing games on PCs are not hard-core "Gamers", but ordinary people with little knowledge, and less interest, in computers.

Your probably right as hardcore gamers are the ones who seem to get this problem!
