Tearing my hair out here I've been trying to sort my HDD out all day!
I have a Samsung Spintpoint F3, which has compatibility issues with SB850 chipset.
I am currently running the SB950 and the hard drive often isn't detected by the BIOS until a few restarts.
If I change the BIOS to ACHI mode (currently running in IDE) Then only my secondary hard drive is detected.
No SMART errors, and Scandisk checks ok. The drive works fine on my old motherboard with no isses so I think the firmware may help even though it's to help with an older chipset.
I have tried to create a bootable USB drive with DOS so I can simply run the F3.EXE firmware update file. But such a simple task seems beyond my capabilities (it's times like these I miss floppy drives)
I reformatted my USB drive with 'DOS-on-USB' to make it bootable and copied the DOS files on the main directory, however when I try to boot I get the Remove 'disks or other media, press enter and try again' error.
Can anyone point me in the right direction or give me an easier solution?
Thanks
Edit: I don't have a CD/DVD burner on my Dekstop either
