Hello,

I'm trying to install the Windows 8 release preview and I can't get my PC to boot from the DVD. I once the disc is inserted I restart my PC and it detects that there is a disc to boot from and says press any key to boot from disc. No matter what key I press it won't boot from the disc.

In my bios the boot sequence has the disc drive as the 1st priority. I have burnt the disc image 3 times and still no luck.

I was thinking that maybe my keyboard wasn't working but I can access the bios by hitting the delete key on initial power up.

Can anyone offer me some advice please?

Thanks

Ok shouldn't be a problem there then. Just asking because I've used MagicISO on numerous occasions and it just didn't work, but ImgBurn is quite reliable.

When you say you've tried 3 times, is that using the same file? You could try and download it again to rule out a bad download, however unlikely.

Other than that, I'm out of ideas.

I have tried it using the consumer and the release preview on two different types of disc. Granted both are quite old. The ISO is fine as I installed it successfully onto a virtual machine.

I'd quite like to try and run it natively if possible however. I'll try another keyboard if I can find one and try and get a new pack of DVDs or buy a bigger flash drive and try and load it off that.

Cheers

Seems to me that you haven't got "enable USB devices" or similar enabled in the BIOS and it's waiting for the OS to load before you have the ability to "press any key".

Have a look in your BIOS and see if you can change the USB devices from OS to BIOS (or legacy).
