Hi,

i have 3 installations of Windows Xp over 3 hard drives on the same PC.
I have a multi-boot configuration which gives me the option to boot into any of the installations at boot up which works fine.
However i cannot get into safe mode properly. Pressing F8 gives me all the options as normal. If i select safe mode it comes up with a list of files, with 'multipart' in the path names, then just freezes!(have to reboot)
Any ideas how to resolve this? I desperately need to get into safe mode to run drivercleaner to install new gfx card drivers. Thanks for reading!
PS Safe mode doesn't work in any of my windows xp installations!

Cleaning your drivers from normal windows install will worth fine, doesn't have to be safe mode... it'll at least let you install new drivers whilst you figure out a fix for the not booting in safe mode issue.

Yep, did try that, ran drivercleaner in windows after uninstalling the previous drivers but now i've installed nvidias 163.44 drivers(tried 162.xx previously, same problem), all my games run at half the frame rate!
I've come to the assumption that drivercleaner doesn't work properly if it's not run in safemode! Maybe i'm doing something else wrong?!!

Wouldn't have thought so. Driver Cleaner runs fine in normal windows mode.

1. Uninstall drivers via control panel
2. Run driver cleaner
3. Restart
4. Re-run driver cleaner
5. Install new drivers
6. Restart

I would just go back to the other drivers if the 163.44's aren't doing well for you.
