cant boot into windows 7

oh dear, I was just on the internet and pc rebooted itself, gets as far as "loading windows" and reboots every time

I knew I should have renewed my anti virus program

but last night was in steam, playing a game and it froze with weird graphics and I had to close it using the task bar, now this

anything I can do ?, im using my laptop at present

press f8 just before windows starts loading and pick the option from the list, "last known good configuration"

damn , didn't work, same problem

saw the chk disk come up and it reboots half way through it

Most likely will be chkdsking because its had a unexpected reboot. I would be testing the ram in the machine first using memtest86 followed by the HDD using the relevant manufactures supplied bootcd. Weird graphics sounds like It could also be a graphics card failing.

ok, so I need to crate a boot disk on my laptop then?
so shall I create boot disk and download memtest copy to disk first?

I am currently running memtest and pass is at 50% with no problems detected

well,

memtest picked up no errors

couldn't find a Samsung boot cd anywhere online

what could I try next?

Failing that you can use seatools to test the HD.

Download and put Ultimate Boot CD onto a USB stick. The software available on UBCD will tell you the make of the disk and the manufacturer's utility to test the drive with.

not sure what its doing but it keeps rebooting itself still

I dont know if im selecting the right menu or not, seems to be doing something though

oh and im using it from a CD

managed to get into safe mode, and copy my documents off, formatted the hard drive, installed win7 , installing updates and its rebooted itself!

any idea what could be wrong?

Sounds like it's most likely hardware, given you were gaming it could well be graphics related. Have you tried the latest graphics driverS?

nope not tried them as I cant get windows running at present

but my last post, going on from that

I have installed windows again, but this time I am doing windows update only 10-20 at a time as it found 104 critical updates

seems to be working thus far, got only a few left to download and update now
fingers crossed

installed all the updates fine

soon as I start doing the optional ones, it crashes again

now I have to format it again

think it must be the NVidia stuff...

This time I installed all the critical updates, downloaded the motherboard drivers and installed and rebooted

download and installed NVidia drivers and installed, rebooted and chk dsk came up and says not booted right

sounds like my graphics card is on the blink ?
