My Asus p5n32 sil plus wont boot the bios it has done it before and i just took it out and used a spare mb but i really dont want to have to do that what can i do to make it boot?

Ive tried taking the battery out and booting it with only a gpu cpu n ram nothing else n it wouldnt boot then ive also tried just one ram chip on its own but i cant get it to do anything it just turns on and runs but doesnt seam to get hot, even when left on for a long time, maybe it has picked up that the previous oc settings have been set to default?

Can someone give me a starting point?

thanks in advance

i hadnt tried that as i couldnt find the manual at the time but i have and it has not helped the pc was working fine then i turned it off and re did my wc'in loop and now it wont boot

I'm not sure what to suggest except maybe try replacing the BIOS chip. Order a new one, then use an extractor tool to pull the old one, then pop in a new one. This is assuming it can just be pulled out and isn't soldered in.

ive been reading on other forums and this seams to be a common problem with maybe fixes!

so far ive tried: remove battery
reset jumpers
run as basic system (1 ram chip cpu n psu)
run gpu in the second blue 16 speed pci e slot

things to try: use pci gpu
try new cpu
try new bios

argh the joys of computing!

ive tested with another cpu and with a different gpu with no joy ive also had it sat with no power for 24hrs and still it wont post

Yep the pc is powering up you can see the LED on the mb light up as soon as you plug the mains into the psu and the psu lights up (LED fan) once you press the power button

The fans conected to the motherboard power up and the water pump powers up to as well as the hdds and the gpu card and everything else! jsut doesnt seem to post

Ive also tried using a different gpu and tried both in different slots (all 3, 2 16x and 1 x8 PCI-e)

Ive also tried different ram and my ram, cpu, gpu in a different pc

:confused::confused:

im abit stumped

Possible operating system corruption?

If not, and you've gone through all the motions, I still think you might need a replacement BIOS chip.

well ive been powering it up without any hdds so i dont think its that although one was a clean format anyway

What is involed in RMA i dont have a receipt for it but i have the box? can i just send it back to asus? ive only had it about a year

Ok ive been lookin at new bios chips could this work? ive seen them on ebay for about £10 has anyone done this before and is it fairly easy to do?

You'll need an extractor tool. You pull the old chip out and put the new one in, and that's pretty much all there is to it. It's not difficult.

Just be sure that the new chip's legs are straight and perfectly in line. There will be a notch in the chip which you must align with the notch in the socket. Once the chip's legs are aligned into position, carefully press down on the chip so it slots into the socket. You may need to apply a little more pressure to fully seat it.

GOOD LUCK. I hope it solves your problems!
