Hi, ive got an AMD CPU so its known as Cool & Quiet not Speedstep

But anyway. The CPU is an AMD 6000+ stock at 3ghz. And anyone that knows this CPU knows that your lucky to get any more juice out of it at all. Well I have managed a 200mhz OC. And this is 100% prime95 stable.

The thing is I would like to enable Cool & Quiet, so that it uses less power when I'm idle.

The thing is when I enable C&Q the system wont boot.

What can I do?

Taking a poke in the dark...you have overclocked your CPU...thus you have probably increased your voltage yes..
Doesnt Cool n Quiet work by decreasing the cpu voltage and clock speed whilst at idle to therefore save power...AMD will have most likely set specific ratio's to decrease the clock speed and cpu voltage by...as you have increased yours, you have probably ruined the ratio and therefore its decreasing by amounts which aren't correct, or in ratio...seems that its a no go..I have just updated from the 6000+ to an i7, and I do recall having the same issue!

any ideas anyone?

I have had this back on a socket 939 if I remember rightly. It was fine with cool 'n' quiet at stock but not with an overclock.

I don't actually think I was able to fix it in the end.

You might want to try an earlier bios revision.
