Can't burn discs.

I seem to be unable to burn a data DVD.

Roxio classic comes back with Power Calibration Area Error, while the full version just has an error. This is both trying with ASDA own brand and Verbatim disc.

I tried changing the IMAPI burn setting but I strangely don't have it and also tried these, they were linked from an other forum.

Drive is an optiarc DVD RW AD-7170A

I use imgburn which is free powerful suite for burning.

It is also incoporated in to other burning programs.

Give that a try.

You shouldnt have to alter hardware settings to burn a disk.

Possible you just have the wrong type of disks for your drive.

If it is an old drive it could just simply be worn out in which case buy a new one

I'm sure it's a multi-drive though.
My dad has now decided he'll do it himself, but will try and remember for next time/hope my bluray drive is back form samsung by then!

I use imgburn as well. My drives just recently worn itself out as well. Won't read or write.

Power calibration error is poor quality disks, I suffered with a batch of very poor disks and ended up chucking half of them away as no matter what burner I used they would not Burn! (got 6 different burners to choose from here including a 1x ide jobbie from a million years ago!)
