I have an old computer that was last used in 2016.It's running Lubuntu 16.04.
I turned it on today, connected it the internet and it's asking to download updates.Unfortunately I can't remember the password so I've gone into grub and got as far as entering a new password and it stops responding to keyboard inputs, the only key that seems to work is return.....and it won't allow no password as a password if you get my drift.
Is there any way round this,am I doing something wrong ?

When you enter passwords in Linux it doesn't show any * or other letters. It is just blank so it looks like only return works.

Having said that that version of Linux is out of support. You should install a newer version.

Oh right,thanks, I'll try again then .
I'm not interested in using the computer myself, just want to get it working then I'll pass it on to someone else, they can do what they want with it
