Hi Guys

My speakers are a Phillips Model, with two speakers and a box at the bottom (what is that called again?) basically the switch which you turn clockwise for louder, anti-clockwise for quieter doesn't make a difference, i cant change the sound? how do i fix this

model number: SPA7300/00

PS: I DO GET SOUND, however cant change the volume with the analogue control system

A screw driver. Sounds like either the pots faulty (unlikely you'd get any sound), or the knob isn't seated correctly and thus not rotating the pot.

how would i go about fixing this then and opening it ?? can't see any screws or tabs to open it or anything.

Good old phone camera's, more mess than picture. :p I'm sorry to criticise, but what is the point of posting a picture that is of such low quality, then asking people how to open it going by that picture?

If you can't see any screws, then it's likely the casing is snapped together. Might have to try prying it open with a screwdriver.

once opened, what am i looking to tweak???

opened it, the black knob you can turn to change the sound, how do i fix it now so when i turn it anti clockwise the sound goes lower and clockwise it goes louder instead of it staying the same

I put the screwdriver and push one of the pins up and the volume goes really loud but as soon as i remove it it goes back to normal............so im close its something there, how do i keep the pin in place

UPDATE: Fixed the left speaker by pushing the pin down until the sound stayed HIGH. now time for the left one.

Sounds like you need a bit of solder to keep it connected. Do you understand how a potentiometer works?

Ye it just needs to stay in that one position.

Anyway i fixed the left speaker, its VERY loud now and the quality is excellent again, the second speaker is still low because i couldn't get that pin into position unfortunately, i might give it a go again in a bit but ye im pleased with my DIY attempt.

and no, what is a potentiometer??

Potentiometer is an manually adjustable resistor, which controls the volume of the speakers. When the knob is turned, it increases or decreases resistance allowing more or less current. More current, more volume. Less current, less volume.

Sounds like the joints have come unsoldered, or cracked.

probably lol, but don't bother me now, ive fixed it and the volume is wicked once again.

Real headache, had to get the pin in an EXACT position, was there for about half hour on the first pin, the second pin just gave me too much of a headache but the sound quality is BOOM so im loving it again.
