Can't 'checkout' sometimes on one of my computers.

i have 4 computers all pretty much set up the same - win 7 64 bit the latest explorer and MSE as my protection of choice.

However, my latest toy, the Aspire One 722 has issues when coming to pay at some websites.

As an example i added a cooker element from e-spares and then went to the basket to checkout. It would let me get to the 'enter email address stage' and then would fail to go any further once i pressed proceed.

It has done this on a coule of other sites too, and even one major site (although i've forgotten the name), and yet when i try to complete the very same transaction on any of my other similarly setup computers i don't have any problems.

Any ideas as i'm stumped? I'm presuming it's a software glitch and have cleared cookies etc but open to any suggestions...

It sounds like you are restricting cookies.

Control Panel>Network and Internet>Internet Options>Privacy Tab

Have a look to see if you are blocking/restricting cookies there.

Thanks for the reply shoot1st.

I know what you mean as on n the surface the problem sounds exactly like that - but all my setups use the defualt 'medium' protection with no advanced features turned on or off.

It's almost as though the browser loses the will to go any further rather than being blocked...

I've just updated 'optional window updates for 64 bit systems' but that hasn't resolved it either.

I may re-install IE - or try a different browser.

Another long shot... perhaps the firewall or browser properties permits http on port 80 but blocks https on port 443? If no, no secure website will work.

Thanks for the reply Grenache, it was a good shout, but all ports OK.

Long shot but is the time/date set correctly?

mistercrabbs - your long shot paid off, thank you.

I had totally missed that the date was indeed 1 day out (it was reading 1 day ahead). And a simple correction has resolved all the issues i was having.

Brilliant, appreciated and a "D'oh" for myself.
