Can't clear firefox downloads...

Basically my downloads list in ff is huge and it's causing my browsing to slow. When I use the in built options to delete the download history it seems to have no effect.

So does any one know where the download history file is so I can delete it manually?

Which "in built option"? Tools -> Clear private data, then clear all the boxes bar Download history should work.
Which version are you running? When it fails, do you see any errors in the Error Console (Tools -> Error Console, if you've got it installed)?

If not, deleting downloads.rdf (2.0.0.x) or downloads.sqlite (3.0) from your profile (%APPDATA%\Mozilla\Firefox\Profiles\[random text].[profile name]) should do it.

I'm using 2 and tools>clear private data wasn't working. Deleting downloads.rdf fixed it. Cheers.
