cant connect to any servers for any game on my steam account

ive just reinstalled steam and installed the sdk tools to be able to play ins 2 and when i get a server list up and try and connect to any server it says failed after 4 retries , this has happened before with other games like ccs , hl2dm , zm , cs , gmod , something is affecting steam i think and i dont know what it is , ive got the firewall disabled , router firmware is up to date ,
ive looked in the console and it says this

Go to Steam/Valve & use there File verification prog to check your content.
 
Probably not but if you look around on the Steam support site there will probably be the same kind of verification tool for the files/games you want.
Failing that post on the Steam forums for help.
 
its doing it with 2 diferent installs of windows on diferent harddrives , i really dont know why , in the past its worked fine
