cant connect to games server

when i try to connect to the unreal tournament server i only get about 70 servers tops, and this is taking about 10 minutes, all of my mates are connecting to the same server and are getting 400 odd servers after about 15 seconds?

the only firewall i have is the windows one and ive tried turning it off, ive ran antispyware/virus prog's and they came back with nothing.

ive uninstalled and reinstalled my modem drivers no change, i can download off sites at 60kbps which is normal (512 connection)

after ive connected to the servers and i come out of the game, i have to reboot before i can connect to anything over the net


anyone got any ideas? :(
 
how would i go about the tracert thing? never heard of that. ive tried clicking on ping server but nothing happens, when its connecting (to find the servers) it says at the bottom pinging server 6%, after about 5 minutes it will go to 20% and after about 20 minutes it will get to 100% but im gettin 100 servers max and there should be 400 +

I assume you have the IP of the server? If so, go to Start button --> Run --> type CMD --> will bring up a small command prompt window --> type tracert [ping here]

so for example in the command prompts window you would see

C:\Documents and Settings\Name>_

then you type (bit you type is in red)


C:\Documents and Settings\Name>tracert 125.50.50.1

the number at the end is the IP of the server you want to try and tracert to
