My new PC came today, it has a wireless card built in which is a TP Link N adapter or soemthing like this and it won't let me connect to the internet. When I try to connect it says 'possible security key mismatch' and continuosly tries to identify the network... I'm using Windows 7 Home Premium and any advice will be appreciated. Thanks.

Hi

Have you tried to manually configure the wireless connection?

1. Open the Network and Sharing Center
2. In the left pane click Manage Wireless Networks
3. In the list of networks right click your wireless network and click Properties
4. Click the Security tab and check its settings

Check that the settings are the same as your router, i have seen problems where WPA was chosen instead of WPA2 or that TKIP was chosen instead of AES encryption.

Ensure the settings here resemble the security settings on your access point.

Cheers

Yes I've tried this, still no luck.

make sure when you enter the password you are entering it correctly and make sure the security type is the same as what you have set on your router for example WEP, WPA, WPA2

it should be in the box it came with the origianl password but im hoping you have changed this for security reasons but as i said your original password would be in your instructions or something

I assume the PC also has an ethernet port on the back as well as the wireless adapter built in? First thing I would try is just make sure you can connect to the internet via a ethernet cable from the PC to the router. After that you may find simply letting windows do an update and updating all its drivers etc will kick the wireless adapter into life.
If you can't connect via the ethernet cable either as least you know theres more up than just a drvier issue with the wireless card.

Right, I've managed to connect to the internet but in the task bar it says I'm disconnected and if i go into network area I only have 2 bars whilst my laptop has full bars, anyone know a fix for this? Man I hate this!

i doubt its this but do you have your pc in a cuboard or somthing maybe the signal isnt getting through properly that shouldnt affect it coming up saying mismatch key though but could explain only two bars on your task bar
