Can't connect to my network

It could be that somebody nearby has powerline adapters too. Ive heard that you can pick up other signals through them. The router won't pick up other signals unless it is acting as a bridge. Is the router a modem too?? i.e. is it plugged into the phone line??

Yes the router is plugged into the phone line to let me get broadband, im not on fibre optic

The ethernet must be working for me to be connected to the internet at all because i don't have a wireless adapter in my computer.
hold on, but thats what this post is about, not being able to connect to the internet by ethernet from your desktop pc to your homeplugs to your router to the internet? Or have we misunderstood something?

BTFON is a wireless network that BT routers 'share' out. You can disable it in your router settings if you wish.

I don't really know what your issue is here, you need to explain it better.
