Since Friday I think I can no longer connect to ocular forums using my wifi. I can be in any browsers and even mobile but can't connect. Currently using 3g on my phone.

Only.person in this house. Any suggestions what might be the reason?

Tried changing the DNS servers you're using? Try 8.8.8.8 as your preferred DNS server. What happens when you ping overclockers.co.uk? Does it resolve an IP address?

ok through hide my ass i can get on, on it atm.

how can i update dns? i've got a d-link 615 (came with virgin) and i am logged into it atm.

Just logging in to my one ATM.
Also, it's normal for it not to respond, but it should be resolving an IP address for it.

Go to setup (first page when you log in), click on internet settings and then click manually configure. You'll then see the 'preferred DNS server' field at the bottom of the page.

under the title 'Dynamic IP (DHCP) Internet Connection Type'
i changed my Primary DNS Address to 8.8.8.8 as suggested

still nothing. with that said i'm using a router on a router (same one) and only changed that on the first one. can't remember the how to access the second from my pc

it's currently in the following path

pc - router2 - router1 - modem

when i go to active sessions i get the following

192.168.0.101 41 0
8.8.8.8 0 1
194.168.4.100

8.8.8.8 used to be 192.168.0.106

To have any effect, you should be changing it on router 1 I would've thought. However, you can change this at your computer's level, not just the router level. Go to Control Panel\Network and Internet\Network Connections and right click the adapter you're using, click properties, click ipv4, click properties, click use the following DNS servers, and then change the preferred DNS server to 8.8.8.8 and the alternate DNS server to 8.8.4.4. If I wasn't clear enough, here are Google's 'official' instructions, however, I'd say I've explained it simpler:
http://code.google.com/speed/public-dns/docs/using.html#setup

still nothing. tried on 3 different browsers, though firefox being my main one with work open is the onyl one which wasn't completely restarted.

i also disabled and renabled the network device.

any reason why this wouldn't fix the issue?

Perhaps it's not a DNS issue. What hop do you get to when you do a 'tracert 91.151.218.11'?

I get to 'gi25fx.L3.tcrb.SoV.Serverstream.net' before it starts to time out, however, I'm still able to access the site. Also, it might be worth mentioning that there's a thread in GD titled, 'Forum issues' with other people who are experiencing issues with connecting to the forum. I've also noticed that the main site (overclockers.co.uk) is on 91.151.218.10 and the forum is on 91.151.218.11, not that it should make much of a difference.

still going...

Hmm, well the hop you're getting stuck at, is one before I reach the host (serverstream.net I'm presuming) when doing a tracert on the main site (ending in .10)... so perhaps it's a routing issue on VM's side?

The hop I get to before reaching serverstream.net, is ae-22-52.car2.London1.Level3.net when doing a tracert on the forum.

I can't get on to the forums neither - tried via OSX Safari, OSX Firefox and iOS Safari. Just get a timed out connection using my home internet (VM BB XL).

Can only get on here using my phone 3G and disabling it connecting to my WIFI. Have rebooted MBP, router and modem and still nothing

Not changed anything it's like my IPs banned or maybe on my side I've banned OCUK forums

Help! Link to GD thread if possible?

EDIT: Found it - added proxy settings and its now working - any reason not to leave this as a permanent setting?

ps3ud0

Having the same issue myself and seeing reports of it all over (with a great many sites). Someone on the VM support site has said there's a wonky router in Guildford that needs looking at, and since it was the weekend there wasn't anyone to do it (!). Hopefully it'll get fixed now it's a weekday again?! Welcome to the 21st century?
