cant connect to playstation network

When setup properly, should it still take quite a while to sign in? or should it be a couple of seconds?

Depends tbh on the network, It normaly takes me 5 to 10 secs.

It's a Belkin (never again, but I have belkin gear now so I'm stuck with it)
Got the router to check for firmware updates but it says there's nothing available.

There's one or two more channels to try but most of them give me no real improvement. It's a fairly big house, with mostly brick walls, and as I say, a lot of water pipes between the router and the console. The distance isn't actually all that big, there's just a lot of stuff to go through, I'm on a different level to the router too.

edit: channel 7 seems to vary from 35%-45%, it can sign in in under a minute but often drops out after a few more minutes. Oddly enough, I've actually been able to download a demo whilst trying all this. Sometimes the download seems to slow right down, other times it appears to have gone pretty fast.

Yeah mine is full of brick walls and like i said my router is down im up it could be a prob with ya watter pipes then im not to sure
