In our student house we are with Virgin Media on a XL 20Mb package with the standard free Virgin router.

3 days ago we had serious internet issues in the evening (couldn't connect to the net. When it did it was super slow) even worse than normally :p.

Now it transpires that we cannot access the router. I've checked ipconfig and its connecting through 192.168.0.1 and pinging it is fine but trying to connect through a browser it times out every time.

Please help!!!

Yes we always used to be able to connect through a browser. I just used windows network troubleshooter and it came back with the message "website (192.168.0.1) is online but isn't responding to connection attempts."

If its changed ports how can I find which port it has changed to?

Reset the router back to default (push and hold the button in on the back with a paperclip for a few seconds). You'll need to set up things like wireless security and any custom port forwarding again though.
