I have two pc's running W7.

I want to share folders between the two, I have right clicked the folders on each pc I want to share, sharing is grayed out so I have clicked on advanced sharing, clicked share this folder and named it. This is the same on the both pc's.

They are both part of the same home group with the same name, turned on file and printer sharing and network discovery, also disabled password protected sharing.

Now when I try to map the drive I can see it but when I click on it, it says -

Network error - Windows cannot access *******
You don not have permission to access ******

EDIT

Ok, I closed the home group and created a new one, now My sons pc can see and access my shared folder but I can't access mys sons.

I have rebooted and check online but can't see anything obvious.

Any ideas?

EDIT # 2

I can access the USER folder fine so with not being able to access the shared folder means he has some sort of security on there or available permissions?

Well if you can see the folder but can't access it then theres some kind of security permission preventing it.

Either share permissions or security permissions so two things to check.

It's OK I found the solution online, The IRP stack was missing in the registry, adding this and rebooting fixed it.

What a pain it was to find though :)
